Kerr explores how the extended evolutionary synthesis challenges reductionist gene-centered explanations, highlighting instead the role of developmental processes, tissue microenvironments, and the extracellular matrix in cancer development. He connects this biological framework to Bowen theory’s systemic perspective, showing how chronic stress, autonomic nervous system activation, and allostatic load operate as mechanisms linking individual and environmental dysfunction to disease progression.
